Meet BZNC: Randi Vicenzi
How did you get involved with BZNC?
My husband Steve and I along with Sandy, Adam, Tom, and Steve and Julie Servantez formed and named the non-profit. We obtained the 501(c)3 status with help from the Kennedys, who were an active connection between the Milwaukee and Belize Zoos.
What BZNC initiative is the most meaningful to you?
Education-focused initiatives are very meaningful to me because of Sharon Matola, the founder of the Belize Zoo. She was passionate about educating the children of Belize about their country’s wildlife, and helping them understand the importance of conservation for the good of these animals.
What do you wish more people knew about wildlife or Belize?
I want the citizens of Belize and all who visit to understand the delicate balance between economic growth and the environment. Protecting the corridor and other delicate ecosystems is vital for the future of the wildlife in Belize.
